I made a movie about a serial killer and the actor is wanted for murder
The title says it all, and honestly I don’t know what to do about it. I just directed a slasher film, and the actor who plays the killer is currently wanted for disposing a dead body. Several festivals who were going to screen the film have pulled it completely, and I really don’t want all of the money and hard work of the other cast and crew to be flushed down the drain. I don’t blame the festivals for pulling the film either. I understand where they’re coming from, and it would be totally insensitive of me to take advantage of a shitty situation like this for publicity. And as of now, I have no plans to release the movie anytime soon. A lot of cast members are traumatized from this situation because they had to rehearse with this dude, where he’d act out scenes stabbing them and trying to kill them. As the director I feel an obligation to make sure everyone is doing alright, but I can’t help feeling guilty for casting someone that’s capable of hurting people like this. And as more information is released to the public, we’re expecting press to start reaching out soon. I’ve reached out to my attorney and others who have more experience in the film industry for advice, because honestly I have no idea what the next step is. And I’m worried that not only will I never get hired again, but the suspect’s co-stars will be affected by this negative press and resulting in hurting their careers. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks. Edit: I probably should have mentioned this, but the actor is literally the main character of the movie and his face is in over an hour of footage, out of the hour and a half runtime. Simply re-filming his scenes is basically impossible. UPDATE: Since it’s public information now, and I’ve been getting an influx of messages from a bunch of people asking for details. I’ve had time to think over this situation, and I’ve spoken with a few production companies, some run by very lovely people. I definitely want to help tell this story to the public, but it’s too early to make any decisions without a proper trial. Telling this story needs to be done in a professional manner that’s respectful to the victims involved in this case. So until more info is released, all we can do is wait.

I promise you a lot of the "toxic killers" you face, weren't like that when they first started playing. Getting bullied while playing weaker killers and then getting bagged and flashlighted is frustrating as hell. You have created the monster you despise. For instance, when I was playing bubba trying to level him for BBQ (not saying he's bad, he's definitely not the best imo but I was obviously new to him and didn't quite know how to play him or have meta perks yet) I never camped or tunneled intentionally at first, but the sheer amount of games where people just pre dropped every pallet in existence and then bagged after everyone. Or loop around some object that has a wonky collision and then bag me when I hit it and started tantrum made me want too at times. Still never entered the game with the intention of doing so. I've seen so many survivor clips as well as me playing trapper, billy, clown, ghosty boi and them outplaying them and then bagging/flashlighting and youre just adding fuel to the fire. Already playing weaker killers, especially if you don't know quite how to play them yet is frustrating enough, but then to add getting bagged and flashlighted on top of that makes you just want to main nurse/blight with hella slow downs. So if you contribute to the problem you don't get to complain about it, if a killers already out the gate camping/tunneling go for it, but just because you played better than them isn't cause for the gloaty behavior. Edit: by flashlighting I don't mean blinding the killer, I mean clicking at them after outplaying them. Blinding is part of the game and is fair.

*EDIT: I’d like to posit the idea of a person deciding to end their life after committing these crimes due to the overall pressure, wanting to keep their family out of the limelight, not wanting to go to trial, etc. Think Israel Keyes. * Obviously this is all speculation but I wonder if the perpetrator may be in a space psychologically to end their life? I’ve been thinking about many other cases from spree killers, school shooters, serial killers, impulsive killers, stalker killers. Many perpetrators have depressive personality issues among many other psychological disorders upon killing their victims and many seem to become suicidal after the event. Is it more likely the perp to end their life if this was an impulsive stranger on stranger crime? An impulsive acquaintance on acquaintance crime? Planned crime? Etc? Curious if anyone else has been thinking about this possibility and how it may effect this case being solved quickly.

Out of all the killers in DBD who do you think would be the most terrifying one to run into? Who would make you scream and run, and just gives off the (RUN FOR YOUR FREAKING LIFE!) vibe?
