What is the actual evidence the Cheops pyramid was built by Khufu? Are there any hieroglyphs or texts that suggest this? I've heard mentioned that Khufu's name was found edged in stone in one place of the pyramid and this is the reason for this theory. Any thoughts? Or even better, any knowledge?
Why did the Egyptian new kingdom never construct a pyramid like that of Khufu?
I have never been able to wrap my head around the fact that we never saw any pyramid come close to the same size of those constructed in the old kingdom in the new kingdom. The new kingdom had access to better technology and more people than its older counterpart yet to my knowledge no Pharaoh was able to come close to the great Pyramids. I know the new kingdom was much more focused on building temples but it seems very strange that no new kingdom Pharaoh committed to outdoing Khufu. Do we know of any new kingdom Pharaohs that even tried?
