Can y’all tell me your thoughts on “regression to the mean” in this real estate market?
San Diego has appreciated at ~5-6%/year on average for the last ~10 years…until 2020. Everyone thinks people are moving here in droves, but population growth is in the .6% range each year, i.e., not crazy. People can say demand is higher bc there’s nowhere to build, or give any # of other rationales for high prices, but I watched a cute house in 2019 sit on the market for 7 months in a desirable neighborhood. Those were normal times. If we regress to the mean, it’s gonna be a big decline.
Sometimes i stare at the charts and think about the bigger meaning behind the way the universe works and how the rules that govern anything lead to the forex market moving like it does.

Hey guys, I’m relatively new to this subreddit but I’m so glad I found it! With this community, you guys are already understanding of the basics in the market and go into more advanced topics, specifically in data analytics. I proposed a study to my AP Statistics and Economics teachers regarding regression to the mean using different averages as the “mean” in the NYSE and NASDAQ markets. One of the specifics I need to find are the sector and industry averages every quarter for all stocks in both the NYSE and NASDAQ going back 25 years. I couldn’t find that data after scouring the internet for weeks. Does anyone know where to find it, or if they have such data themselves? If retail traders correspond to 5.5% of the forex market why do traders insist in SMC/Wyckoff/etc?
I don't know if these numbers are correct, but if retail corresponds to 5.5% of the forex market how do traders keep insisting on things like support and resistance, SMC, etc...? It's also said that to move a single pip at EURUSD it would take a massive quantity of money so it makes zero sense to move lots and lots of pips, billions, to go after those 5% of the market. I was trying to get into fx trading but the only thing that made any sense so far for me was the SMC, but given that the base of SMC falls short when taking into consideration the above statements I really don't have any clue on where to start.
