Pound exchange rate falling / Bank of England buying bonds megathread.

Some of you will have questions about the recent fall in the value of the pound and the interventions made by the government and Bank of England to try and stall this.
The government is taking the view that this is a temporary disruption to markets the BoE has decided to buy up bonds in an attempt to prop up the value of the pound. This means that pension funds that have borrowed other currencies to buy pounds will not be caught short when they have to use GBP to buy currencies to pay back the loan.
In the short term it's easy enough to make predictions about what will happen today and tomorrow but in the medium and long term it is an extremely complex system with impacts that are difficult to predict. Buying up bonds can stabilise the exchange rate which can prevent inflation by preventing foreign goods becoming more expensive, but it can also fuel inflation by acting as an economic stimulus through making it easier for institutions to afford borrowing.
Exchange rates fall when investors become less confident in a country's ability to repay its debts, or when they do not need the currency to buy goods and services manufactured in that country. It is speculated that the recent tax cuts and high inflation could make it expensive for Britain to service its debts and therefore the risk of default is considered to have increased.

Forex exchange rate measured in pips on live account.

I'm having trouble with buying currency pairs. For an unknown reason, the exchange rate between two given currencies is measured in pips instead of units, and, while this shouldn't be cause for concern, it's not allowing me to purchase anything more than 0.01 units with $3,000 capital after leverage. However I would have thought that i could buy 3 000 units, as I could with a demo account, where the exchange rate is measured in units. Maybe if I could fix the magnitude of the exchange then I could more easily solve the problem.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has just increased its interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.1%, aligning with market estimates. Meanwhile, Australia recorded 0.6% quarterly growth for its GDP, slightly lower than the projected 0.7%, and AUD/USD suffered minor losses at 0.6692.
As the Federal Reserve is yet to put an end to the tightening cycle, the greenback continues to strengthen against other major currencies. As a result, EUUSD retreated to 1.0469, while GBP/USD slid more than 50 pips to 1.2137. USD/CAD increased over 60 pips to 1.3651, as investors anticipated a rate hike of 50 basis points in Canada later tonight. USD/JPY rebounded from a low of 136.03 to 137.05.
Multiple attacks deep in Russian territory suggest Ukraine will not sit idly during winter. This is despite the extended Russian invasion putting pressure on the global oil supply. WTI oil futures decreased to $74.25 a barrel. Spot gold rose to $1,771.07 an ounce, and Bitcoin suffered minor oscillations, currently at 17,066.0.
In the stock market, the S&P 500 slipped 57 points (-1.44%) to 3,941, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 350 points (-1.03%) to 33,596, and the Nasdaq 100 fell 237 points (-2.01%) to 11,549.

Bank Recommended For Good Exchange Rate?

I used to believe that the exchange rate of Pakistani banks was under SBP monitoring, but it looks like banks have their own mind for setting exchange rates. Some even have a difference of more than 10 rupees per USD (Faysal Bank).
What is your experience with banks? Which one is good for getting a good exchange rate? Many people recommend JS bank for it. Is it true?
Edit: I get regular remittance so I'm talking about selling exchange rate not buying.

The federal funds rate is the interest rate commercial banks charge each other for overnight lending. Generally, the prime rate is about 3 percent higher than the federal funds rate. That means that when the Fed raises interest rates, the prime rate also goes up.

Does anyone here happen to know which rate banks usually look at for giving out loans? Anyone? I will give you a hint: It starts with a P. Solid 7 to 8 or 9 percent mortgages in a couple months depending on your credit. It will go higher. This stuff does not crash over night. 2026 to RE bottom bitches.
Although seldom used as a mortgage index, the prime rate does influence mortgage rates to a degree. The prime rate's importance as a national benchmark typically encourages mortgage rates to fluctuate in relative similarity. As the prime rate slides up in response to a fed funds increase, consumer loan rates--including home equity loans --follow.
Go to a bank and see for yourself. They look at the prime rate for loans and if you get anything else you are screwed.

After the Federal Reserve’s 75 basis point rate hike, the Bank of England has followed suit - though notably less inclined to continue aggressive tightening, being warier of an economic recession. GBP/USD lost over 230 pips to a closing price of 1.1165, while EUUSD slumped from a high of 0.9943 to 0.9751.
Later tonight, investors anticipated the US Nonfarm Payrolls to increase employment by 200,000 displaying the resilience in the labor market, hence justifying the hawkish stance of the Fed. Recent rate hikes saw USD/CAD climbing to 1.3745, and USD/JPY rising over 30 pips to 148.27.
Due to China’s zero-COVID policy and continued tightening among global central banks, the gold price rebounded from a month-low of $1,617.05 to closed lower at $1,629.65 an ounce. The commodity-sensitive AUD/USD pair declined and stabilized at 0.6287, as WTI oil futures fell to $88.17 a barrel.

Barclays bank likely behind most recent JPY/USD exchange rate rigging

Hi Friends, reports have been circulating on social media that Barclays have been recently manipulating the USD/JPY rates despite being fined 3 years ago by US regulatory agencies for the same mistake. The manipulation is very simple, the bank simply under-reports self-reported Libor Rates using so called 'synthetic LIBOR rates' while going into the forex market and moving rates during low-volume sessions. Jump Trading LLC, Citadel Advisors LLC, and Barclays LLC are unusually active during these low volume market moving sessions.

Given that the Bank of Japan has not followed up on its currency intervention plans from August, the weak Yen is not due to weak macroeconomic conditions. This case of Barclay's manipulating the JPY/USD is separate from ongoing trials related to multiple banks rigging forex rates from 2007-2013.

The Swiss Central Bank has also recently tapped into swap lines with the Federal Reserve. They also have a history of forex manipulation. Reports during the beginning of September about Swiss banks like Credit Suisse possibly failing made people dazed. Many mistakenly thought that this swap line was providing liquidity to financially distressed banks.

Barclay's forex traders might not be formally charged with illegally moving the forex markets for the next 6-8 months, but reports of Barclay's moving the JPY/USD illegally are likely to hit news outlets in the next 3 weeks.

As a result, two sympathy plays will go into effect. The VXX, Barclay's flagship product, will experience very explosive upward action on the week of November 21-25. VIX as a result will also peak around this week.

Given that the VXX has previously costed Barclays hundreds of millions of dollars due to oversubscription and technical filing issues with the regulators, the VXX going up a lot is a way for the market to remind Barclays of the karma they deserve for their greediness.

Coinciding with the greenback’s softening, the Bank of Canada raised its interest rate by 75 basis points to 3.25%. USD/CAD rose to 1.3125, and USD/JPY reached a high at 144.99, then retreated to 143.7.
EUUSD briefly surfaced above the parity before closing at 0.9999, as the market expects a 75 basis points rate hike from the European Central Bank tonight.
The Pound/Dollar pair closed higher with minor gains at 1.1525, after sliding to a low of 1.1413, not seen since 1985. Although the Australian trade balance only recorded an $8.733 billion reading, considerably lower than the original estimate of $14.500 billion. The GDP results were not far from the mark, a 3.6% quarterly increase enabled the Aussie to climb to 0.6769 against the US dollar.
Gold futures recovered and stabilized at $1,727.8 an ounce as the greenback eased. Slowing global demands saw WTI crude futures returning to pre-Russian invasion levels at $81.94 a barrel.
