Every Sunday, we’ll be posting a recap of recent happenings in the Reddit Collectible Avatar scene. In this weekly newsletter, we’ll shed some light on topics such as:
WallStreetBets gets their own collection & sell for record pricesmeme by u/_tweedieA little over half a year ago, a hundred top degenerates from WallStreetBets were asked to join in on designing an “NFT idea”, which turned out to become part of the Reddit Collectible Avatar collections. Some of them shared their stories, a little bit about the history of how this collection came together, and their t-shirts on the sub. Which can be found here, here and here. Record sale! In true degenerate fashion, a bunch of them were sold immediately for hundreds of dollars. There are a couple of dozen truly rare ones, of which a few already sold for thousands! Check out those sales and rare (Gold) Hedge Snoos, here, there and over there too. Reddit RecapVrroooooommmmHyped, as everyone anticipated new free drops, thanks to u/Perfect_Ability_1190’s post about the details of a new contract that hinted at everyone getting new avatars related to their personal Reddit Recap. We’ve not been given the new avatars yet. But, rest assured, they are coming! Eventually! Hopefully! (plz reddit...) Thanks to several Redditors, we’ve been fortunate to get a preview of how they look. Ten avatars revealed by u/AsherFennec came first, and u/HeartThePark posted, what seems to be, all 34 of them. The sub’s been bombarded with Recap cards, some even thinking those were the NFTs we would receive from Reddit. We know you’d love to see them as NFTs, but these can not be put on Opensea. You have to wait a bit longer to receive the actual Reddit Recap avatars. A little more patience is required… Reddit Talks AvatarsHistory in the making, as u/IsNotWaterForFish hosted the first Reddit Collectible Avatar Talk on Reddit itself, with u/TheFattyBagz (and his soundboard) as host. Together with artists u/Conall-in-Space, u/StutterVoid, u/Substantial-Law-910, and u/tfoust10, they talked about how they got into art, and avatars specifically.Avatar enthusiasts could ask questions, and we learned some interesting things. She shared a wonderful piece of art combining Snoos and Star Wars right…here! Eric Hagan plants trees!How many eyes can you count?The artist behind some of the more amazingly unique looking avatars, such as Progress and Confidence, and the meme-worthy Tina, donated $10.000 to plant trees. It was every man and woman for themselves as avatars were selling out left and right. The avatar shop saw its first sell out within minutes and the entire thing sold out within 24 hours of release. _______ Tfoust Interview [10/20] Tyler Foust, the artist behind the Foustling collection, had an interview on cryptocurrency shortly after the new Halloween drop released. The interview is hyperlinked above, but mainly covered his origin story. I recommend giving the interview a listen if you have an hour or so to tune into the recording. The main lesson from this interview, if you are an aspiring artist, is to start selling art at garage sales. _______ Fattybagz Interview [10/22] Fattybagz, the artist behind The Mind’s Eye(s), had an interview on the cryptocurrency sub yesterday. This interview covered a bit of his past experience in the space, projects that he is currently in, and Reddit NFTs. He believes that OG holders should be rewarded for being there in the beginning, and announced that NFT passes would be airdropped to wallets holding his Reddit avatars after the stream. _______ Puzzled_Panther Stream [10/22] Puzzled Panther, the artist behind Growl Gang and one of the recent Spooky Season collections, recently held an amazing livestream for our community. The stream took place at twitch.tv/avatartrading and lasted a little over three hours. It was an amazing opportunity for our community members to engage Puzzled Panther and watch him draw a piece in real time. People asked questions about art, talked about mental health awareness, and learned about the artists’ backstory and how they ended up where they are now. At the conclusion of the livestream, Puzzled Panther announced that the work of art he had created would be raffled off to three winners of the avatartrading community. Winners will be announced during Sunday’s donation raffle. Make sure to stay up to date on our events to catch the next one!
