ATM Fraud Near FNB ATM Shoprite Center in Sea Point
It was frustrating as a tourist to lose two of my cards to an ATM scam. Last Saturday, around 6 PM, My friend and I were walking down to our hotel across the block. A couple of black guys posing as security approached behind telling us something about a ticket, but we continued walking. As we were not listening to them, a couple more from the front blocked our way and asked us to get a ticket to walk on the road because the city governor was arriving. We protested and turned back to walk away. The guys blocked our way from the back telling us that we were not allowed to walk without a ticket. He then asked us to get an access ticket from the atm for free. As I refused, they aggressively told us we were wasting their time and that we should go ahead and get the ticket. A well-dressed gentleman (accomplice) requested us to do as they said, as he was the next one behind me. Surrounded by them, I was afraid I might get hurt because I had a lot of cash I had just collected from my friend in my secret wallet; I did as they asked. I inserted the card. They began asking me to put in the ATM pin. As I felt something was not right, I entered a random pin. The card looked like it was stuck in the machine. One of them said that to get the stuck card out, and I needed to insert another one. At this point, I knew something was wrong. They were so deceptive and good at this that they convinced me to insert another card and enter the pin. I entered the incorrect pin. As I stood there figuring out what to do with the cards that were supposedly stuck in the ATM, the men fled across the road. No one is to be seen. They snuck away my cards distracting me all the while. At this point, I almost understood what had just happened and blocked both my cards online. Thankfully, no transactions were reported, but the entire experience left me frustrated with myself and deeply shaken. I was so disappointed because the general public who were transacting at the ATM next to us did nothing to stop them. Be careful!

PSA: Stop complaining about the call center being bad. It's not us being bad. It's the company being terrible and sharing information.
This company sucks when it comes to rolling out new information. Working in the call center. I have to learn on the fly when it comes to new policy's and rules. Also, we have a lot of overseas employees which doesn't help the situation. Do you know how many times I had to deal with situations where the store simply told the customer to call 1-800, because they didn't wanna deal with the customer. Do you know how many times I had to deal with situations where my company failed to let us know about a new policy. The shit is crazy. Trying to communicate to the store is a nightmare for us. However, the whole company sucks are communicating with each other. So, remember it's a broken system where all sides are being played by the upper management. Sidenote: The amount of bullshit we deal with in the call center makes me wanna scream at this company. They expect us to be mental health counselor for less than 35k a year. With the added bullshit, oh we're are hear for you. When a customer yells at you for 30 mins not to take it personal. Get the fuck out of here!
While I don't work in a call center anymore and I know things have changed for those companies that have went remote, but gosh I remember a couple that just seemed absurd. No phones, pens, notebooks, etc.. on the call center floor, totally get that where customer information is concerned. I am talking about things like. -Talk time should not exceed 7 minutes, BUT you must follow each step, verbatim, which if doing so on each call, takes 10 minutes. -You are not permitted to leave the site for your lunch break (granted we only had 30 minutes, but that is unpaid time). -You did everything correct on the call , but neglecting to utter a minute phrase before ending the call caused an automatic fail for QA. What are your crazy rules?
I have nothing against call center employees. Curious lang ako bakit pinipili nila mag apply as call center agents(not bpo - it employees) dahil daw malaki ang bigay? Eh etong mga non IT graduates nagsself study para makahanap ng work sa IT world para malaki daw nag sahod. Nag apply ako as call center agent noon pero 15k lang sahod. Currently working as app support (career shifter) pero 20k ang sahod(starting).
