In the CFA curriculum EUUSD is listed with the numerator (EUR) being the price and the denominator (USD) being the base. But on fx exchange rates online they are quoted as EUUSD as in base/price. Why is this the case?

Is there a crypto exchange that allows stop loss and take profits at the same time when the order is made like Oanda does with Forex?

I’m using coinbase pro and I made a fee bucks just testing things but I feel like I’m risking i too much. Stops and sell limit orders requires a dedicated amount from your crypto balance so you can choose one or the other and you can only do it manually AFTER the buy order was filled. Honestly coinbase is ass in so many ways.

US national looking to forex to offset exchange AUD/USD rate risk while abroad - missing anything?

I've been offered a job in Australia that is quite compelling to me. But as I'm sure most of you here know, the AUD has been trending downward and faces further potentially sharp declines in the next couple years due to:

  1. Weakening economy and plummeting housing prices potentially forcing a RBA rate cut
  2. Weaker Chinese demand for commodities reducing exports
  3. Potential raise in USD rate by the Fed (seems unlikely at this point but you never know)
  4. General recession sending money into stable currencies like USD (happened during 2008)

I've seen estimates that pose as much as a 25-30% drop from .72 to .5. in the next 1 to 2 years. I'm paid in AUD and don't plan to stay in Australia for a long period of time so this would be a huge drop to my salary.

I used to mess around with forex and TA back in the day, not successfully, of course, but then again, I was day trading and it did give me familiarity with the trading platforms. I was thinking of setting a hedge position via forex to offset some of the currency risk. I have probably 2k I can set aside, and my hypothesis is that the AUD/USD rate will not rise more than 6% from .72 to .76 (probably much lower than that, but still) , so I should set my leverage to be stopped out at that point, and this would give me 8-10k (minus 33% as tax rate) protection should the worst happen and there's a 25% to 30% drop.

I realize that if the currency spiked up (as it spiked down recently) it could wipe out my position and then still go down anyway. Also if were to make 100k for example, then a 5% upward move is just about $400 a month in salary gained, so even if it went up for a while and came back down two months later, I would have lost my 2k position while just increasing my salary by $800.

Is this foolish or very high risk? Am I setting myself up failure? Is there some smarter way I could be approaching this?

Any foreign investors being screwed by USD exchange rates??

I invest from Sweden in the US market. The SEK has fallen by almost 25% against the USD since January. So I am being screwed in both red and green days. So on red days, i cant take advantage of the dips because the SEK goes higher than the USD and on green days I sometimes end up losing because the SEk usually falls. For example, today my stocks were mostly green, but I still lost 2.5%, because the dollar went lower by almost that amount against the SEK (1 usd was 11.2SEk in the morning and now it is 10.9). Really frustrating to get fucked mo matter what.
Anyone on a similar boat? If so, how are you handling it?

Forex exchange rate measured in pips on live account.

I'm having trouble with buying currency pairs. For an unknown reason, the exchange rate between two given currencies is measured in pips instead of units, and, while this shouldn't be cause for concern, it's not allowing me to purchase anything more than 0.01 units with $3,000 capital after leverage. However I would have thought that i could buy 3 000 units, as I could with a demo account, where the exchange rate is measured in units. Maybe if I could fix the magnitude of the exchange then I could more easily solve the problem.

Why did the Immigration health surcharge increase ~$50 USD when the exchange rate only increased by 1 cent?

I started my visa application last week and went as far as paying the Ihs. Then I learned that the Ecctis couldn't be added to the application retroactively, so had to scrap the whole thing and start over — along with paying the Ihs a second time (while requesting a refund on the abandoned application). I was surprised to find that the fee has increased from $1483.07 USD last week to $1534.21 this week, even though every exchange rate I can find indicates that the difference is only a penny.
If I'm doing the math right, they charged me at a rate of roughly $1.19 a week ago when the exchange rate was $1.18 to a pound and are now charging at $1.23 per pound while the exchange rate is $1.19. Any rhyme or reason for this?
